Thailand’s Amata, B.Grimm develop 42.5-MWp floating solar

Thailand’s Amata Corporation (AMATA) and energy producer B.Grimm Power (BGRIM) are jointly developing a 42.5-MWp floating solar farm at an industrial estate in Chon Buri province.

According to Renewable Now, the project, worth about $36.1mn, will be developed through Amata B.Grimm Renewable Energy Co, a joint venture in which Amata holds a 75% stake.

The photovoltaic facility will be built on a reservoir within the Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate, one of the country’s major industrial developments.

The companies aim to use the project to meet rising demand for renewable electricity among industrial customers while supporting efforts to reduce carbon emissions and shift towards lower-carbon operations.

Once operational, the floating solar installation is expected to prevent approximately 29,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

The project forms part of broader efforts to expand renewable energy capacity at industrial estates and provide cleaner power for businesses operating in the area.
