GLNG: QatarEnergy announces it will increase LNG expansion plans

QatarEnergy has announced that the state-run company will add additional capacity to its North Field Expansion (NFE) plans. The Gulf country has vowed to raise production by an extra 16mn tonnes per year to boost its total capacity to 142mn tpy of LNG by 2030.

The natural gas-rich country is in the midst of construction work on the NFE megaproject, which is projected to be completed by 2027 and will add six new liquefaction trains. A further two more liquefaction units will be added by 2030 to boost the capacity by 16mn tpy.

With total capacity now set to climb to 142mn tpy upon the project’s completion, it will mark an 85% rise from the country's current LNG capacity of 77mn tpy.
